The Report Builder turns your saved identification sessions into professional examination reports. Select one or more sessions, choose PDF or HTML format, enter your name and credentials, and export. Reports include all measurements, the candidate list, nat/syn results where present, and a professional gemological disclaimer — generated automatically, with no formatting work required.

Opening the Report Builder

There are three ways to reach the Report Builder:

Main menu

Tap the menu icon → Report Builder. Opens to the full session selection screen.

From a saved session

Open any saved session, tap the overflow menu (), and choose Build Report. The Report Builder opens with that session pre-selected.

📁

From a profile

On the Profiles screen, tap the overflow menu () on any profile and choose Build Report for Profile. All sessions in that profile are pre-selected.

Step 1 — Select Sessions

1

Browse your profile tree

The Report Builder opens to a list of your profiles. Tap any profile name to expand it and reveal the sessions filed under it.

2

Check sessions to include

Each session appears as a checkbox row showing the gem label and saved date. Tap the checkbox to include it in the report.

3

Select across profiles if needed

You can include sessions from multiple profiles in a single report. Expand as many profiles as needed and check sessions from each.

4

Tap Next

When your selection is complete, tap Next to proceed to Report Options.

Reports can contain a single session (a single-gem examination record) or multiple sessions (a portfolio or multi-stone appraisal support document). There is no hard limit on the number of sessions per report.

Step 2 — Report Options

GemID keeps the options simple. There are only two settings:

Format

  • PDF — the most broadly compatible format. Renders consistently across devices and is suitable for email attachments and printing.
  • HTML — an interactive document that opens directly in any web browser. Useful for sharing a link or viewing on screen.

Prepared by

Enter your name and credentials as you want them to appear in the report header — for example, "Jane Smith GG FGA" or "J. Smith, Graduate Gemologist". This field is optional but recommended for professional use.

GemID generates the report structure, layout, and content automatically. There are no template choices or manual formatting steps.

Step 3 — Export or Email

From the final screen, you have two actions:

Generate and download or share

Tap the primary Generate Report button to build the report immediately.

  • Web — the file downloads to your browser's downloads folder.
  • iOS and Android — the system share sheet opens, letting you save to Files, AirDrop, email, print, or send to any compatible app.

Send by email

Enter an email address in the Send to field, then tap Send. GemID delivers the report by email from reports@gemid-labs.com. The email includes the report as an attachment and a brief cover message. This is useful for sending examination records to clients without leaving the app.

Delivery time. Email delivery is typically within one minute. Check spam filters if the message does not arrive. Emails are sent via Resend using the verified domain gemid-labs.com.

What Is in the Report

Every generated report contains the following sections, in order:

Section Content
Header GemID logo, report title, Prepared by name, and date generated
Specimen Gem label, free-form notes, and reference photo if one was uploaded
Measurements All instrument readings and observations entered during the session — RI, SG, fluorescence, optical character, and every other field that was filled in
Results Top candidates from the identification engine, each shown with its match status
Nat/Syn Origin and treatment test conclusions, if the nat/syn protocol was completed for this session (Pro feature)
Disclaimer Standard gemological disclaimer: results represent observed indicators consistent with listed candidates and are not a certification or appraisal

GemID reports are examination records — documentation of measurements and observations made with reference to a gemological database. They are not appraisals, valuations, or laboratory reports. The disclaimer is added automatically and cannot be removed. Always refer clients to a qualified gemologist for formal appraisal or certification.

iOS, Android, and Web Behavior

Report generation and delivery work identically across platforms. The only difference is how the completed file is delivered to you:

Web

The browser's native download mechanism saves the PDF or HTML file directly to your downloads folder.

iOS

The system share sheet opens. Save to Files, AirDrop to another device, attach to Mail, print via AirPrint, or send to any compatible app.

Android

The system share sheet opens. Save to device storage, share via Gmail, Google Drive, or any installed share target.
