Team plan required. Workspaces with multiple members require the GemID Team plan ($49/month flat rate). See Subscriptions or GemID for Teams for details.

What is a Workspace?

A workspace is a shared GemID environment. Every account has a personal workspace automatically — it's private to you and works on any plan.

A team workspace adds multiple members, role-based permissions, shared session history, and workspace-level branding for exported reports. Team workspaces require the Team plan.

You can belong to multiple workspaces and switch between them using the workspace switcher in the app sidebar. Sessions and collections are scoped to the active workspace.

Creating a Team Workspace

1

Open Settings

Tap the profile icon or go to Settings from the app menu.

2

Go to Team

Select Team from the settings list. If you don't see this option, upgrade to the Team plan first.

3

Create Workspace

Tap Create Workspace, enter a name, and confirm. You become the workspace owner.

4

Invite members

From the Team screen, tap Invite Member and enter their email address. They'll receive an invitation link.

Roles and Permissions

Every workspace member has a role. Roles control what actions they can perform.

Permission Owner Manager Editor Viewer
Identify gems & view sessions
Save & edit identification sessions
Export reports (PDF / HTML)
Run bulk identification sessions
Invite & remove members
Update workspace branding
Manage billing & subscription
Delete workspace

Manager role. Managers can invite and remove members and update workspace branding, but cannot access billing or delete the workspace. This makes it safe to delegate day-to-day team management without giving up ownership.

Inviting Members

Go to Settings → Team and tap Invite Member. Enter the new member's email address. They will receive an invitation link by email.

Pending invitations are shown in the Team screen with a "Pending" badge. You can cancel a pending invitation at any time before it is accepted.

Joining a workspace

Members join by tapping the invitation link in their email. If they don't already have a GemID account, they'll be prompted to create one first. After accepting, the workspace appears in their workspace switcher.

Removing members

Owners and managers can remove a member from Settings → Team by tapping the member's name and selecting Remove from Workspace. Removed members lose access immediately. Their previously saved sessions remain in the workspace.

Workspace Branding

Team workspaces support custom branding that appears on all exported reports (PDF and HTML). This is the "white-label" feature that lets you present reports under your shop or lab name.

To configure branding, go to Settings → Team → Branding. You can set:

  • Workspace name — displayed as the report header
  • Logo — appears at the top of exported reports

Branding changes take effect immediately on all future exports. Existing saved reports are not retroactively updated.

Bulk Identification Sessions

The Bulk ID screen lets you process multiple stones in a single session — useful for lot appraisals, auction consignments, or dealer intake workflows.

Access Bulk ID from the app's main menu or navigate directly to Bulk ID in the sidebar. Each stone in the session gets its own set of property inputs and generates its own candidate list. The full session can be exported as a single consolidated report.

Pro feature. Bulk ID is available on the Pro and Team plans. On the Team plan all workspace members with Editor or higher access can run bulk sessions.

Switching Workspaces

Tap the workspace name in the app header or sidebar to open the workspace switcher. Select the workspace you want to switch to — the app reloads with that workspace's sessions and settings.

Your personal workspace is always available as a fallback, even if you leave or are removed from a team workspace.

Billing

The Team plan is billed to the workspace owner at a flat $49/month, regardless of how many members the workspace has. There are no per-seat fees.

Billing is managed by the workspace owner under Settings → Billing. Managers and other members cannot access billing.

If the Team subscription lapses, team members retain read-only access to their saved sessions but lose the ability to create new sessions or export reports until billing is restored.
