What Loupewise does not do
Stated here, on the page where you decide, because these are the questions it is most often mistaken for.
- It does not identify gems from photographs. It requires readings taken with instruments. A photograph cannot supply refractive index, specific gravity or optic character, which is where the separation actually happens.
- It does not appraise or value stones. It records a purchase price and an estimated value that you supply. It publishes no market prices of its own.
- It does not issue certifications. Results are indicators. It is a field and study tool, not a laboratory report, and the output language is “candidates include” and “consistent with” rather than a definitive identification.
- It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any awarding body, and it does not reproduce live exam questions. Practice items are written independently against published syllabus topics and public format specifications.
